Hedayat, born in Egypt, has had her life and artistic journey deeply shaped by the rich tradition of storytelling. The vibrant tales shared by her grandmother, along with her extensive exploration of Egypt's historical legacy, have made narrative a cornerstone of her work as a visual storyteller. In her sculptures, she uses materials such as clay, stone, plaster, and ceramic to delve into the human condition and explore our shared humanity.
Since moving to the United Kingdom thriteen years ago, Hedayat has embraced sculpture as her primary form of expression, drawing from her past while reflecting on her new experiences. Through her figurative sculptures, she expresses ideas about the universal connections that link people across different generations and cultures. She aspires for her work to convey the shared experiences of humanity—motherhood, friendships, displacement, and isolation—universal themes that resonate regardless of one’s background or identity.
